Industrial sludge meets raw energy. Alkaline is a piece about the ability to evolve and transcend. It is a collaboration driven by the transformative power of movement, art, music, and relationships.
This is a passion project by Julie Gratz, which was started purely as an excuse to get a bunch of talented friends together. It quickly became much more personal, solely incorporating footage from two of her favorite places; Brooklyn and Martha's Vineyard. Over the 2.5 years it took to complete, the idea evolved and eventually settled on this organic style of animation that transports us between worlds.

Morebarn "Silver Screen" Music Video
The Album artwork for "Made by Hand" and the video for "Silver Screen" were collaboration projects between KALEIDA and Gary Waldman that began at the beginning of 2013. Both pieces were truly "Made by Hand" in the spirit of the album, as all of the artwork and landscapes were hand-painted with oils, and the animation is hand-drawn frame by frame.
43 feet of painting, and 13,000 frames later, we're proud to share this piece with you.Animation, Fine Arts, Music2014

An animated Save the Date video for my sister's wedding, set to the music of "I Want You" by Rachael Yamagata. The design is inspired by art nouveau jewelry, and includes textures from photographs taken near our family's second home in Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard.Animation, Drawing, Illustration2013
A short film/animation showing the creation of a 6 foot by 6 foot painting that unites 100 mini canvases. Each of the mini canvases were made for the friends and family of my sister and her new husband.Animation, Film, Painting2013
An animation created for projection behind the band on Citizen Cope's fall 2012 tour. It is simply what the song "One Lovely Day" sounded like, and what the music created for me. Incredibly thankful for the opportunity and the chance to explore music, movement, and symmetry in this way.Computer Animation, Illustration, Music2012
In preparation for an ambitious music video that I am animating, I figured I'd quickly play around with a different style of animation that I've been drooling over for a few years...
